There are different way you can peel a pepper. I offer two easy options for just 1-2 peppers and many at the same time. You might need many pepper for the Bell Pepper Salad. Or just one for this French Lentil Salad.

  1. Holding a pepper with tongs over open fire burn the skin all over the pepper. Alternatively, if you need to do many peppers, you can bake them. Place as many as you need on a baking tray. Bake for about 20-25 minute or until they collapse.  I recommend turning them once or twice so they cook more evenly.
  2. Place the pepper in a plastic ziplock bag, close it and let rest for 15-20 minutes. You can skip this step if you bake your peppers.
  3. Take the pepper out of the bag.  Begin to peel a pepper by scraping the skin off with a knife or just your fingers. The skin should come off easily.
  4. Cut around the stalk (the green part that connects the pepper to the stem of pepper plant) and take it out together with the seeds. Make sure to remove all the seeds.
