You can drink this refreshing and stimulating ginger and mint tea daily just for pleasure. Alternatively, you can have it for its therapeutic effects.

Here are the two ingredients I use to make the tea and their health benefits.  Please check out this page for more homemade remedies that use food as medicine.

Health Benefits Of Ginger

People have used this familiar kitchen spice in herbal medicine for thousands of years. One of the most common uses of ginger is to help with indigestion, bloating, cramping, nausea, and gas.

Modern clinical studies confirm the traditional use of ginger for nausea related to motion and “morning” (pregnancy) sickness. It also helps with nausea induced by drugs, for example, chemotherapy treatments. Ginger can be as effective as some anti-nausea medications.

Also, as a hot and stimulating herb, we use it to increase circulation and warm up cold hands and feet. It can help with chest congestion during a cold and stimulate mucus movement out of the body.

Many studies show that ginger is a potent anti-inflammatory herb. It’s effective in relieving arthritic aches and pains.

Health Benefits Of Mint

Mint has been another herb used for medicinal and culinary purposes forever. Mint found its therapeutic use, especially in digestive health. For example, we use mint as an anti-nausea and anti-vomiting to relieve cramping and spasms in the digestive tract.

Mint also inhibits muscle contractions and promotes relaxation. As a result, it can soothe headaches, especially those related to muscle tension.

Energetically, mint is cooling. Hence it slightly balances out the “hotness” of ginger in our tea recipe.

Simply smelling the tea can relax you and improve your mood and alertness.
