Please buy organic chicken or at least antibiotic and hormone free. Chickens are not vegetarians and they eat bugs and worms as part of their normal diet. In today’s complex food supply chain, chickens are fed all kinds of things they don’t naturally eat, like fish protein or cow bone meal. So be sure you buy chickens labeled “all vegetarian diet”. I recommend you buy chicken pieces with bones to make your sauces more flavorful and thick.
Health Benefits Of Onions
This dish calls for a lot of onions. Onions have exceptional antioxidants and cancer fighting qualities. They are high in sulfur compounds that make them hot and irritating to the eyes but give them many of their medicinal qualities. They also help lower blood pressure and detoxify the body. Onions are antibiotic and antiviral and helpful in combating colds and flus.
Health Benefits Of Tomatoes
Tomatoes are rich in beta-carotenes, vitamin C, potassium and lycopene. Lycopene is a potent antioxidant and has gained a lot of attention from researchers recently. Lycopene is also one of the rare compounds that improves with cooking. It also has anti-inflammatory and heart protective properties, however most of the research suggests that eating the whole tomato is more effective. Tomatoes also have a protective effect against many types of cancer.
Tomato belongs to the nightshade family together with eggplants, potatoes, and peppers. The nightshade family has been implicated in contributing to arthritis. If you experience joint pain you might want to try taking these foods out of your diet for several weeks to see if your symptoms improve.
